SiNANO Institute Best Paper Award 2025
The SiNANO Institute Best paper award 2025 goes to Vicente Lopes from INL for his paper on graphene-enabled glucose sensing. The prize will be given to him during the 2026 EUROSOI-ULIS conference.
For years, the Sinano Institute has been sponsoring the European EUROSOI-ULIS Conference. Following the 2025 edition that was help in Warsaw, we are please to announce that the SiNANO Institute EUROSOI-ULIS Award – named the Androula Nassiopoulou Best Paper Award in memoriam to her – goes to Vicente Lopes from INL (Praga, Portugal) for his paper “Graphene-enabled glucose sensing: From field-effect transistors to next-generation wearables”.
Graphene-based sensors detect glucose at the attomolar-level—the lowest reported limit of detection—while maintaining high selectivity in real human tears. Advancing toward wearable technology, Vicente and his co-authors integrated graphene into contact lenses, creating stable, transparent coatings that enable tear-based glucose sensing. This breakthrough represents a major step toward wearable, non-invasive monitoring solutions that could revolutionize diabetes care and inspire next-generation healthcare technologies.
Congratulations to him and his co-authors for this prize.
The award will be awarded to Vicente Lopes during the 2026 EUROSOI-ULIS conference, that will take place in Granada (Spain) in may 2026.
